Texas Center

The Texas Center for the Judiciary is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation whose purpose is to provide outstanding judicial education to Texas judges so that a qualified and knowledgeable judiciary and staff may administer justice with fairness, efficiency, and integrity. Since its creation on January 1, 1973, the Texas Center has served as the primary source of judicial education for all appellate, district court, statutory county court, probate, associate and retired and former judges covered by the Rules of Judicial Education.

The Texas Center’s mission of “Judicial Excellence Through Education” is carried out on a daily basis in a variety of ways including continuing judicial education programs, new judge mentoring programs, an integrated curriculum design, comprehensive faculty development, and the development of Bench Books and online resources for Texas judges. The Texas Center relies on judges, attorneys, law professors, legal experts and related professionals from across the nation to serve as faculty, panelists and facilitators at its judicial education programs.

The Texas Center also serves as the administrator of a federal grant under the Children’s Justice Act and in that capacity supports critical programs such as CASA and CAC of Texas designed to assist at risk children and enable them to have a normal and healthy home life.

The Texas Center is governed by a board of directors consisting of judges throughout the State of Texas. The management of the Texas Center is conducted by a small staff of professionals dedicated to serving the educational and resource needs of the judiciary and thereby assisting Texas judges in providing fair and impartial justice to the citizens of Texas.
