CJA Three Year Assessment

Every three years, the CJA Task Force must undertake a comprehensive review and evaluation of how the State responds to child maltreatment and make training and policy recommendations for improvements in child protection systems. The Task Force has completed its current assessment and identified several priorities to direct the use of CJA funding in the coming years. A copy of the report is located at this link: CJA Assessment Report.

2020 Request for Applications

The purpose of the Children's Justice Act (CJA) is to develop, establish and operate programs designed to reform State systems and improve the processes by which States respond to cases of child abuse and neglect. This will enable States to more effectively address both the child victim and the offender and to limit additional trauma to the child victim. CJA funds are to be primarily focused on the front-end, intake, assessment, investigative, and prosecutorial phases of child welfare.

Texas CJA is now accepting applications for programs that will fill an identified gap and contribute to the knowledge base in one or more of its current CJA priority areas:

  • Strengthen Capacity and Better Leverage Existing Resources
  • Emergency Preparedness: Keeping Children Safe During and After A Natural Disaster
  • Improving the Response to Internet Crimes Against Children & Use of Digital Evidence

Applications are due Monday, June 10, 2019.  If you have any questions about the grant process, please contact Heidi Penix at heidip@yourhonor.com. Please review the 2020 Request for Applications (RFA) located here.
