Texas law provides victims of family violence, sexual assault and stalking with protective order remedies in the Texas Family Code and the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure. These protective orders help keep abusers away from victims through restrictions on the abuser’s contact with the victim and enhanced criminal penalties for violations. This training discusses the dynamics of family violence, sexual assault and stalking in abuser - victim relationships and highlights procedural issues for and clarifies key differences between family violence protective orders under the Family Code and sexual assault or stalking protective orders under the Code of Criminal Procedure. The registration fee, though voluntary, pays for expenses not legislatively covered by the allotment to the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals grant. ***FOR JUDGES ONLY***
