|This course addresses changes in bail procedures under the Damon Allen Act as well as common topics and scenarios what Judges will encounter in setting and adjusting bail throughout the post arrest process. The presentations will educate Judges on best practices in order to ensure correct application of law and consistency in administrative processes. CURRENT AVAILABLE MODULES: Judge Alfonso Charles: Bail Reform and Impact of the Damon Allen Act***Judge Mark Hocker: Indigency/Right to Counsel Issues - 1 hour*** Judge Laura Weiser: Impaired Driving Bail and Bond Conditions - 1 hour*** Judge Nelda Cacciotti - Early Identification and Mental Health Bonds - 1 hour*** Judge Courtney Arkeen - Unintended Consequences of Bond Conditions and Protective Orders - 1 Hour. The registration fee, though voluntary, pays for expenses not legislatively covered by the allotment to the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals grant. ***FOR JUDGES ONLY***
Participants can turn in their MCLE forms for Judge Charles' 2 hour presentation as soon as they complete the video.
The remaining 6 hours of the training are consolidated into a single course called Special Topics in Bail and Magistration. Special Topics 1-4 are currently available for viewing. In order to streamline the reporting process, TCJ will release the MCLE form for Special Topics in Bail and Magistration once Special Topics 5 and 6 are made available later this spring.

|***Registration will open June 1***In this webinar, an experienced panel will discuss the nuts and bolts of Multidistrict Litigation (MDL). They will cover how an MDL gets established and the role of the MDL Panel. They will also discuss what it means for a case pending in your court to be “tagged” into an existing MDL. The panel will explain the role of an MDL pre-trial judge and the pre-trial judge’s management of an MDL, including establishing a case management order and setting a case for trial. Finally, they will address the reasons for remanding a case from the MDL to the trial court and the procedure involved in remanding a case for trial. The panel will also answer questions that you may have.
