Appellate Judges Education Fund
Overview
The Court of Criminal Appeals provides a $101,000 grant to support appellate judge education. This fund reimburses actual and necessary expenses for approved courses. Requests must be submitted before attendance and approved by the judge’s Chief Justice or Presiding Judge by March 31.

Initial Request Criteria
- Course must relate to judicial duties
- Provider must be approved by the Court of Criminal Appeals. See list of pre-approved providers.
- Request must be submitted and approved before attending
- Reimbursement capped at $1,000
- Requests must not exceed court allocation
- Course must take place during fiscal year (Sept–Aug)
Reimbursable Expenses
- Meals/lodging: up to 2× GSA per diem
- Tuition and registration fees
- Mileage: up to $0.655/mile
- Economy travel
Additional Funds
Requests accepted: April 1 – May 31
- Up to $2,000 in additional funds may be requested
- Same eligibility criteria apply
- Funds awarded on a pro rata basis, if demand exceeds supply
Requests will be accepted as long as funds remain available.
